For decades, taxpayers in Marple and Delaware County have borne the hidden cost of the 213-acre Don Guanella property. The Marple Board of Planning was right to deny the plans to develop the property, and the Archdiocese should have been listening.

Already-overburdened taxpayers should not have to take on more debt to obtain and preserve property they’ve been subsidizing for years.

It's among the last large areas of open space in our community.

Protecting and preserving the earth is an important part of Catholic faith, and we urge Archbishop Chaput to donate this land to the Natural Lands Trust for preservation for posterity.
